Activities

The Institute of Experimental Design focuses on exploring new approaches to architecture and its integration with other artistic and technological fields. It employs hands-on learning methods and combines architectural design with digital fabrication, robotics, and research in material innovation.

Thematically, the institute focuses on areas such as future housing, production automation, scenography and immersive environments, as well as the psychological and social aspects of architectural spaces. It also ventures into the realm of performance arts and spatial experimentation.

Its educational philosophy is based on the "design-build" approach and it collaborates with a range of partners from academic, public, and non-profit sectors. A key feature of the institute is its operation of a robotic lab, which is used by students, doctoral candidates, and research teams. In the future, the institute’s activities will be incorporated into the faculty’s broader research and educational structures, with a strong emphasis on transdisciplinarity and experimental practice.
