The Rector honored personalities at the 26th BUT Academic Assembly. Among the honorees are Professor Šlapeta and Associate Professor Michal Palaščak
On Thursday, September 18, on the eve of the 126th anniversary of the university’s founding, the Brno University of Technology held a ceremonial academic assembly. During the meeting, which was attended by members of the academic community, employees and other guests, Rector Ladislav Janíček looked back on the past year and presented awards to individuals who contributed to the development of BUT. Among the awardees were two prominent representatives of the Faculty of Architecture.
Gold Medal for Professor Vladimír Šlapeta
The highest award, the BUT Gold Medal, was received by Prof. Ing. arch. Vladimír Šlapeta, DrSc., a leading Czech architectural historian, a renowned educator and a prominent figure on the Czech and international architectural scene. The medal was awarded to him for his extraordinary lifetime achievements that contributed to the development of BUT in the areas of architecture, art, design and other creative activities.

Professor Šlapeta significantly contributes to the development of the field through his publishing and exhibition activities, as well as his teaching activities at the Faculty of Architecture, BUT and abroad. Since 2006, he has headed the Institute of Architectural Theory at the faculty and in the years 2006–2010 he was its dean.
Rector's Award for Associate Professor Michal Palaščak
Another award associated with the Faculty of Architecture was received by Assoc. Ing. Michal Palaščak. The Rector awarded him the prize for extraordinary architectural work.

During the gala evening, Rector Ladislav Janíček emphasized that the university's excellence lies primarily in its people - employees and students, whose talent and abilities fill it with concrete content. In total, seven gold, ten silver and seven commemorative medals were awarded at the 26th academic assembly, as well as 50 Rector's awards and other prizes for the best teachers.
