The exhibiting artists have earned their reputation through long-standing cooperation with leading Czech and especially international architectural offices. The paintings created by them have led to winning many awards in architectural competitions and have brought their clients many interesting commissions. Without a doubt, it can be stated that the CGI artists represented at the exhibition are among the most successful graduates of our faculty. They are an unnoticeable part of the local creative industry, thus supporting the image of Brno as a Central European Silicon Valley.
CGI (Computer-generated imagery) tools revolutionised the representation of architecture at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. Thanks to political changes, these modern technologies were able to be more widely applied to the domestic scene. The initial shy, rather technical output was soon replaced by serious artistic work with the ambition to captivate the viewer and evoke strong emotional experiences. The exhibited works mostly fall into the category of applied art for commissioners from major architectural offices, but the exhibition also includes images from free creation, when the personal ambitions of the artist-visualisers went beyond the descriptive need of an architectural project and ventured into the dreamlike world of experimentation and provocation. This tension between applied art and free creation is one of the main themes of the exhibition.
