Invitation to the workshop: 24h / Designing an urban micro-strategy for a large-scale location

We invite you to a workshop 24h / Designing an urban micro-strategy for a large-scale location with architect Ivana Bendová and architect Jan Benda, which will take place at the FA BUT in Brno. The event is designed for upper year students.

WORKSHOP ORGANIZATION:
Workshop will be organized as a very intensive seminar, which will follow a pre-agreed program. Adherence to the time schedule will be one of the criteria forevaluation of teams.
Students will be divided into two basic teams/groups (Team Ivan, Team Jan). Each group will work on one task. The task will be not only to develop a proposal, but to organize the whole team so that decisions can be made about how to proceed with the work, such as selecting options for further elaboration, organizing a meaningful presentation, etc.
Each team will need to establish a leader who will be responsible for the smooth functioning of the team. He/she will have to make decisions if the team members are unable to agree.
The team will also choose who will be responsible for the manner andorganization of presentations, timely collection of materials for presentations, calculation of areas and various indicators, computer processing of materials, selection of illustrations from books and magazines, etc. This means that each team member should have a specific function that will affect the overall outcome.
It is expected that the workshop will result in a minimum of a PPT presentation and a schematic model. The final concept needs to be documented and presented clearly. Simple sketches, tables, calculations, graphs, images documenting the quality of the eventual architecture and environment, animations are welcome.
During the workshop, the time limit for presentations should be respected, which will be conducted as short meetings with representatives of the "client". The "client" will be there to answer questions from the team and makeappropriate decisions based on the documents and information presented by the team. In the final presentation, which will be open to a wider audience from the school (students and faculty), each team will present only one final option. However, the team's work will be evaluated at each presentation throughout the day.
Each team member must work with the manager/supervisor, coordinator, and planner to help coordinate the team's activities. Each team member is required to be involved in the work so that they are able to fulfill not only their individual role but also work on the project as a whole. In addition to being involved in the practical design and development of the task, all team members will each have a specific role for which they will be responsible.
WORKSHOP GOAL:
- to create an idea of the client's approach to the project and to create an indication of the idea, how to respond to this- bring aspects of reality to the project- concepts of large multi-functional projects- the client (developer) aspect- the economic aspects- the aspect of some practical typological element- the marketing aspect- master the practical preparation of a series of short and simple, quick presentations- working in a team
