HERITY Wizard’s day at FA BUT
The Faculty of Architecture of the University of Technology in Brno and HERITY International jointly launch the international meeting on "Rehabilitation Quality of Abandoned Buildings and Areas in the Industrial Heritage context", a “HERITY Wizard’s day”. The term Wizard in the English language of the XVth century had the meaning of 'philosopher', 'wise man'. Going further back in time, the Indo-European root 'Wid' means 'to know'. Several derived terms can be referred to this, such as the Sanskrit 'Veda' or the English 'Vision', 'Witness', 'Wisdom'. These three words resume the approach that HERITY puts at the basis of the "HERITY Wizard's days", that since 2016 took the place of the previous HERITY Conferences. "Rehabilitation Quality of Abandoned Buildings and Areas in the Industrial Heritage Context" October 20, 2017 in Brno – Czech Republic Managing the rehabilitation at former industrial sites is a challenge that can connect past and future. The fundamental principle of the success (or not) of this operation is the quality of the projects, as well as the social acceptance of the interventions made. Urban Landscape and historical remains are directly affected by these activities. Again, the balance between use and conservation is the key-word, taking in consideration that the point of equilibrium is different from place to place, and along the time.
